About Me

I’m Senior Researcher in URENIO Research Unit of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Tenured Senior Teaching Fellow in Media Informatics Lab of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. I hold a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a PhD in Urban and Spatial Planning, both from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

I participate in R&D projects dealing with Smart/Intelligent Cities and Innovation Ecosystems. My current Smart City project, STORM CLOUDS, aims at deeply exploring how the needed shift by Public Authorities to a cloud-based paradigm in service provisioning should be addressed, mainly from the point of view of the end-users, and taking full advantage of edge ICT.

I teach the “Digital Cities – Intelligent Cities” and “Digital Cities: Applications Design & Development” courses in School of Architecture. Moreover, I teach the “Social Media Applications”, “Web Journalism”, “Human-Computer Interaction” and “Digital Content Production” courses in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

My research focuses on the Design and Development of Smart/Intelligent Cities, Innovation Ecosystems, Web and Mobile Technologies for New Media, Open Data, and Civic Media. My PhD thesis is titled: “Intelligent Cities: Technologies, Architectures and Governance of the Digital Space”.

I post news related to my research interests in the URENIO website and in my Twitter account.
